What’s a Blue Line Ladies Lunch Bunch? It’s not in Webster’s or on Wikipedia - yet, but don’t tell this group. They will just add it to their ‘to do list’ and then record it on the list of accomplishments attained over the last few months.
Just so you will know… it is a group of professional women that hop on DART’s Blue Line rail train to downtown Dallas each week. These ladies have careers in banking, oil and gas, architecture, insurance and law, just to mention a few.
After years of visiting with one another along the route each day about careers, family and health, they developed a group called the Blue Line Ladies Lunch Bunch in April 2008. The first meeting of this 20+ lunch group was held at Plaza of the America’s Corner Bakery and they agreed to meet at other downtown eateries the third Thursday of each month. “Darlene Bennett of Hutchison Oil and Gas Corporation is the key to this group” said Judy Appelman, Director of Marketing for Evergreen Architectural Group in Uptown. “She mentioned getting together for lunch one afternoon on the ride home. When I mentioned it days later to another rider, Becki Woodward, she too, knew Darlene, and the idea for a “group lunch” just blossomed. Darlene, Becki and I met at the Iron Cactus to organize this group the next week. This avenue has continued to not only provide an opportunity to develop friendships, but allows networking and support, both professionally and personally. This group has been highlighted by local news agencies in the Dallas area and continues to grow with the 50 member mark now within reach.
